Topic: “HF Digital Modes”
By: Steven Smith WA8LMF

Steven roams around the state providing quality
presentations on the topic of “HF Digital Modes” for the
ARRL Michigan Section. Tonight, Steven will grace us
with his presentation, covering what are the ‘digital’
modes, how are each used, what hardware and software is
needed to operate these modes, and where such hardware
and software can be aquired. You will likely learn more
about such modes as PSK31, Olivia, MFSK, MT63, QPSK, and
others, including software such as FLDIGI, that you ever
knew existed!

Presentation: “Wireless Ypsilanti” and OLSR Mesh networking [ www.wirelessypsi.com ]

Steve Pierce (K5HDL) from Wireless Ypsilanti will show us how inexpensive WiFi Access Points using special built-in software are being deployed by volunteers all over a large geographic area providing a free high-speed Internet access network. This is a form of OLSR “Mesh” networking that has taken off in popularity in the last several years as an easy plug-and-play wireless network topology. Simply deploy a number of nodes within RF range of their neighbor(s) and the network will *automatically* configure itself and route traffic around any outages. This is similar to the Amateur Radio “HSMM-Mesh” technology.

If you have an HSMM-Mesh node or a Meraki MR-18 AP, feel free to bring it along. Perhaps we can set up an ad-hoc network (time permitting).

Jay, WB8TKL
