November General Meeting

The November 2016 ARROW general meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 09 at 7:30 PM in or near room BE-172 at Washtenaw Community College. We start gathering for eyeball QSOs at 7:00 PM. The business meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

Our ARRL MI Section Manager, Larry Camp, WB8R will be visiting us to talk about the new and upcoming hamfest at the Michigan International Speedway in Fall 2017. Larry is visiting Clubs around the area to assemble a consortium of clubs to help make the event a success. Following Larry’s presentation we have our Technical Coordinator, Jay Nugent, WB8TKL talking to us about emergency preparedness and freeze dried food supplies for long term storage. Jay will be bringing along samples for everyone to taste.

All are welcome to attend. After the meeting, many of us meet for a late dinner at Red Robin on Carpenter Road.

This month’s presentation topic is Experiments with 9:1 ununs and random wire antennas by Dan Romanchik, KB6NU and Rick Barnich, KA8BMA.

All are welcome to attend, whether you are a member or not. After the meeting, many of us meet for a late dinner at Red Robin on Carpenter Road.

September General Meeting

The September ARROW general meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:30 PM in or near room BE-172 at Washtenaw Community College. We start gathering for eyeball QSOs at 7:00 PM. The business meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

This month’s presentation topic is Obtaining Homeowners/Condo Board Approval for an Outside Antenna: A Success Story by Gary Ilker, W9CLQ. Gary will go through the process he used with his Condo Board for their approval: his approach, strategy, process, presentation, installation, and follow up of a resident’s complaint.

Jay, WB8TKL will bring in some boxes filled with ARROW stuff that will be up for grabs.

Dan, KB6NU would like to meet with anyone who is interested in the Boy Scouts Radio Merit Badge program before the General meeting at 6:30 PM to go over the material and fill in the counselor applications.

Missed the ARROW bus? Here is another chance

If you missed getting on the ARROW “Prize” Bus to Dayton our good friends at the USECA Amateur Radio Club have about 15 seats left on their bus for 2016. Below is the message from Ken, N8KC USECA President:

USECA ARC is doing a bus trip to Dayton as well (mostly club members) and have about 15 seats remaining.We aren’t doing prizes or a sell table, just some light snacks on the way down. Price is $50. Our bus will be leaving from Warren (14 Mile and VanDyke) at 4 am, Sat the 21st. If someone is interested, have them contact me, Ken N8KC@arrl.net or Jerry N8KLX@arrl.net directly and ASAP for details and to work out payment up front. There may be seats available on departure morning and those will be sold 1st come 1st served prior to 4 am.

Touch-a-Truck 2016

The Touch-a-Truck was held on May 7th, 2016 at the Ypsilanti High School and it went extremely well. The following hams helped out during the event: Joe Glandorf AC8ES, Jeff Zupan W8SGZ, Dinesh Cyanam AB3DC, Ed Thierbach AB8OJ, Dan Romanchik KB6NU and Thomas Martin W8TAM
