Field Day is ham radio’s open house, and it’s the most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. Every fourth full weekend of June, licensed amateur radio operators set up temporary stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill, and service.
ARROW is back at the
Ann Arbor Airport Soccer Fields this year, operating for 24 hours straight on emergency power. You’ll see solar panels, batteries, and generators powering it all, antennas on portable masts, and operators running six stations across HF, VHF, and UHF using voice, Morse code, digital modes, and maybe even amateur radio satellites.
The public is invited. Whether you’re a licensed ham, someone curious about radio, or just looking for something different to do on a summer weekend, come on out. Stop by the Information Tent, take a tour of the stations, and meet the operators.

GOTA stands for Get On The Air. It’s a dedicated station where anyone, licensed or not, can make their first-ever radio contact under the supervision of a licensed coach. No experience needed. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to talk to someone halfway across the country using nothing but a radio and a wire, this is your chance.
